DANCE DANCE

Sophie took a dance camp over at Ryle High school. It is used as a fundraiser for their dance team. About a week after the camp, they got to perform before a football game. Soph thought this was the best thing ever!
Dancing
Doing what she does when she get shy, tugs on her hair

After the performance, they got to go and do the tunnel.

Soph thought it was SO COOL that the cheerleaders had to do a build to hold up their sign!

SO PROUD!

Tonight we had math night at school for third grade. They use a new program called everyday math. It is really different than what was taught even when I was in school. I would explain it, but I don't get it. Counting to the 100's to do addition. Or counting in their places. AHHH I was confused. So an addition problem could be

   426
+ 130
______
   500
     50
       6
______
   556

Or you could have to count up. Which I really didnt get at ALLLLLL! I always struggled in math though, still do. Anyway, none of this is my point. I talked to Sophie's teacher a bit afterwards to ask her which method (algerithiam) she was using. I never see her work she does most of it in her head. Oddly, she is using the old fashioned way of borrowing! LOL. Well, her teacher kept going on and on about how great she is doing. How she picks things up so quickly. When they do a lesson, and she knows it already, she will put her on the computer to do higher things. How she now has her helping ( teaching) other students who are not picking it up. And how I should just be really proud because she is so special, and really is on an entire other level of thinking if she can TEACH other kids how to do things. This is like the BEST thing for us. Teachers in the past have just tried to tell me she has ADHD and have me put her on meds. When all along I KNEW she was just gifted. I could not have picked a better teacher for her. A lot of friends questioned my request. Why I was'nt requesting the "best" third grade teacher. Mommy gut told me this is where she needed to be. I just wanted to share how AWESOME soph is doing, and how we have a great teacher who finally realizes her potential!!!!!!

Third Grade Goes to the Zoo!

Last Friday Sophie's grade went to the zoo, yup LAST friday. I took pics with our smaller camera, and had no idea how to get them onto the computer, so had to wait for Brett. Since he is currently home bound with pneumonia, he had some time today! We had a lot of fun! I always enjoy going on their trips and getting to know all her little friends. I won't post any of those kids here, since I didn't have permission to post in a public forum. I have learned from doing yearbook, there are many different reasons why not to. So enjoy these few pictures!

Prayers for This Football Player

Last Sunday, this little boy Joey, hit head on with another player. Causing him to collapse and seizure! He was taken from the field to Children's and went into immediate surgery! He is now recovering well, and it is said that this collision saved his life! He had and existing cyst on his brain, and this caused it to rupture. Had this not happened it would have gone undetected!!! His family has started a blog about his recovery! I do not personally know him, but many in the league do, and everyone is pulling for him. Here is his blog:

Big Game for Jake

Jake had 4 solo tackles and got in on several other tackles. At the end of the game they allowed him to play quarterback and he ran a keeper around the end for a 12-yard gain. Pics below

He won't go down easy!

Football Slide Show

Long Time no Blog

Since school has started, life has become about 20 times busier!!! Between school, after school functions, PTO and Sitebased meeting we are all just about exhausted. Then we throw in football. Practice 3 nights and usually both saturdays and sundays at the field. So I am going to take advantage of some down time now. This down time of-course comes to us courtesy of IKE! His lovely remnants have ripped through the mid west leaving us powerless.  We are really lucky. Only without power for roughly 5 hours. Being on the same grid as a fire station has its advantages!!! Friends are still without almost 3 days later. Our school got power back about 5am this morning, so it looks like back to business tomorrow!  Over Labor Day, Dad and Jackie came up for a few hours. Jake took advantage of the bike being here and took a ride. So here are the pictures that came from it!
